Starting in the year 2002, Hendrik Stark studied forest sciences at Dresden University, Germany, with visits to Canada, Ecuador and Sweden investigating the role of forests and vegetation for climate change. For his doctoral and post-doctoral studies Hendrik then conducted research in the field of forest ecology and management at Freiburg University, Germany, and was actively contributing to the graduate school "Environment, Society and Global Change". Also, Hendrik has been undertaking intensive private studies in Buddhist philosophy, psychology and mind-training in the Tibetan tradition of Buddhism in Nepal, India and Malaysia since the year 2009.
Bringing together these two backgrounds, Hendrik eventually founded and inspired the seminar "Linking Mind and Environmental Sustainability" at the Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources at Freiburg University. Hendrik also trained as a .b-teacher with the "Mindfulness in Schools" (MiSP) project in London, and currently trains as a teacher for Mindfulness-Based-Stress-Reduction (MBSR) / Mindfulness-Based-Cognitive-Therapy (MBCT) at Bangor University, UK. Hendrik currently works as a freelancer and seeks to transforms the MindEnvironment into an independent own organization commited to science, coaching and education at the interlinks between mind, mindfulness and sustainabilty.
